Extremely thin natural stone sheets mounted on fleece or natural fiber backing. The surface of the stone is sealed with a protective lacquer. The sheets can be cut with a knife or scissors. The material is formaldehyde-free. Sheet size is 1220 x 610 mm (4 x 2 ft). Fleece-backed sheets are 0.3 mm (0.01 in) thick and weigh 160gsm (4.7 osy). Natural fiber-backed sheets are 0.9 mm (0.04 in) with weight of 450 gsm (13.2 osy). Water absorption, according to ASTM C-121 is 2.5. Abrasion resistance according to IS: 9162-1979; average wear 0.7 mm thickness loss, maximum wear 0.8 mm. A wide variety of colors, from dark-grey to cream-colored with visible stone structure and veins are available. Applications include furniture design, home and automobile interiors, leather-working industries, and packaging.
